Domestic Abuse awareness during Pride Month

Last updated by charlotte.lang@essex.gov.uk on Wednesday, March 13, 2024

As we know LGBTQ+ people experience and share similar types of domestic abuse as their heterosexual cisgender peers, however LGBTQ+ survivors are by and large invisible in the mainstream support system. Research suggests that LGBTQ+ victims and survivors of domestic abuse need an appropriate response to their needs as well as LGBTQ+ perpetrators of abuse.

This year SETDAB will be attending a number of LGBTQ+ events . They will be at Essex Pride on Saturday 24 June with partners, offering support and information regarding domestic abuse and substance misuse.

For more information on LGBTQ+ victims of Domestic abuse as well as research papers and toolkits please visit the SETDAB website and check out the resource library.
