Myth: A Request for Support always need to be submitted through the online portal

Buster: Where a child, young person or family member has made a disclosure about current physical abuse, including if there is a mark on their skin, there is a need for an immediate response. The Essex Effective Support Document states 'If a child is at immediate risk of significant harm and at immediate risk contact the Children & Families Hub on 0345 603 7627 and ask for the priority line, consideration should be given to calling the police on 999.'

A Request for Support should be submitted to the Children & Families Hub where risk is not immediate and an intensive or specialist response is required.
