Child Death Review process

The death of a child is a tragedy; as parents we don’t usually expect a child to die before us. The Essex Safeguarding Children Board have a responsibility to review the death of every child under the age of 18.

Information is available for parents, families and carers to help explain why the death of every child under the age of 18 needs to be reviewed by professionals from a number of different organisations:

By reviewing all child deaths we can seek to understand the reasons for the death and to learn as much as possible to prevent future childhood deaths and to support families.
