The death of a child is a tragedy; as parents we don’t usually expect a child to die before us. The Essex Safeguarding Children Board have a responsibility to review the death of every child under the age of 18.

By reviewing all child deaths we can seek to understand the reasons for the death and to learn as much as possible to prevent future childhood deaths and to support families.
