Today is Young Carers Awareness Day and the ESCB is highlighting the #CareForMeToo Carers Trust campaign about the challenges faced by our young carers.
One in five secondary school children aged between 11-16 in England are young carers and the pressures of juggling academic work along with their caring responsibilities at home can leave many feeling isolated as well as impacting upon their emotional and mental health.
Many of our young people don’t see themselves as carers. As a result, they may be missing out on essential parts of their life, or not realise that there is practical help and emotional support available from Essex County Council Youth Service.
More information can be found on the Young Carers Page.
